We are looking for a skilled welder to fabricate gates, railing, other materials at our facility and on construction sites. A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will be self motivated and have pride in their work.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements). Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and make necessary adjustments to achieve desired welding parameters.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Perform job duties in a safe manner and follow all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. This includes wearing appropriate protective gear such as welding helmets, gloves and flame resistant clothing and ensuring proper ventilation in the work area.
• Participate in safety meetings.
• Clean, maintain and organize tools, equipment used, report and damage or malfunction to supervisor.
Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prior welding experience.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
• Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus and pay more
• Ability to lift 70+lb
• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling
• Strong teamwork, communication skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at any given time.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Basic mathematical skills for measuring and cutting materials.
• Prioritize safety
• Valid drivers license (may be required)
