POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Installation Lead is a hands-on lead responsible for driving daily execution of the build schedule by leading mechanical assembly, industrial piping installation, and equipment integration on the shop floor. This role ensures assigned projects move forward efficiently and safely while meeting Cloacina quality standards by coordinating people, materials, and tasks day-to-day.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical Assembly & Installation
• Lead daily installation and assembly activities according to the production schedule.
• Interpret and execute work from P&IDs, isometrics, layout drawings, and mechanical details.
• Resolve installation issues to maintain throughput.
• Coordinate mechanical, piping, electrical, and assembly work to ensure proper system integration.
• Stage materials, pipe, fittings, and equipment prior to installation.
• Troubleshoot installation conflicts and field fit issues in real time.
• Work hands-on performing mechanical installation when lead duties allow.
Quality & Safety
• Perform in-process quality checks (fit, alignment, support, routing, workmanship).
• Verify completed work meets specifications and workmanship standards.
• Ensure required QC sign-offs are completed.
• Support root-cause discussions and corrective action for repeat quality issues.
• Adhere to and promote all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Ensure work areas remain organized and safe while coordinating multiple trades in shared space.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
· Hands on experience performing mechanical assembly, industrial piping, and equipment installation.
· Experience working with Schedule 80 PVC piping systems, including layout, cutting, joining, and support.
· Ability to lead small crews and coordinate skilled work on the shop floor.
· Comfortable working from drawings, layouts, and technical instructions.
· Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, trackers)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
· Experience installing industrial process equipment, manifolds, skids, or packaged systems.
· Familiarity with rigging, lifting, setting, and aligning equipment.
· Exposure to welding principles and fabrication fit up.
· Coordinating installation with electricians or controls technicians.
· Advanced computer skills (analyzing data in Excel, making tables, charts, and utilizing formulas).
· Experience in 5S or continuous improvement practices.
· Prior experience in the wastewater industry.
· Advanced degree from an accredited university.
PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS
• Daily shop-floor presence required.
• Lift up to 50 lb.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must wear required PPE.
• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and telehandlers.
• Occasional overtime based on workload.
• Occasional need to work hands-on installing equipment, manifolds, and piping assemblies.
• Employees are expected to provide personal hand tools customarily used for mechanical assembly and piping work.

The wastewater industry can be hazardous due to exposure to biological and chemical hazards, as well as physical dangers, including but not limited to, confined spaces, slips, falls, wet and/or humid conditions, high and/or low altitude, moving mechanical parts, high and/or precarious places, fumes and/or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, vibration, sewage, epoxy coatings, solvents, and excessive noise levels. Employees may come in contact with wastewater which contains human waste. Wastewater contains various bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause diseases in humans and animals. Workers can be exposed through contact with wastewater, aerosols containing pathogens, or contaminated equipment. Wastewater treatment processes also involve the use of various chemicals, some of which can be toxic or corrosive. It is imperative that employees wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols. While not mandatory, it is also highly recommended that employees stay current with vaccinations, including Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, and Diphtheria.
