OLIVER MODEL 20-C 24" CAPACITY WOOD PATTERNMAKER’S LATHE
80” BETWEEN CENTERS
Built in Grand Rapids. Michigan in 1956
This unit has a 3hp explosion proof motor 220/440v currently wired and running on 220v, 3 phase. I operate it using a rotary phase converter here in my home shop. This machine has a 4 step - 3” wide leather belt drive connected through a Lima four speed mechanical gear box. The headstock spindle is threaded 1.875” x 6 tpi and runs silently in tapered roller bearings.
Both the headstock and tailstock are bored for #4 morse taper tooling.
It has a lead screw to power the compound on the X axis that can either be synchronous with the head stock speed via a belt or driven completely independently via an attached Dayton DC motor and controller
The overall length of the machine is just over 10 feet long, with a one piece cast iron bed. The turning capacity is 80 inches between centers.
This lathe has a very large amount of tooling - chucks, face plates, tool rests, banjos, steady rests as well as cutters and custom tooling and work holding devices as well as two steady rests, photos available on request.
Fully functional, some light surface rust on the ways. This unit is all cast iron except for the aftermarket sheet metal belt covers and weighs approximately 3,000#. No forklift available on site – this is a residential shop. 2K engine hoist and slings and 5k pallet jack and four 4-wheel dollies are available to facilitate loading.
