The San Luis Obispo County YMCA has a job opening for an Human Resources Assistant!
Non-exempt, 30-32 hours a week; Medical, Dental and Vision benefit eligible
Under the supervision of the Senior Director Of Human Resources, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the San Luis Obispo County YMCA's mission, the Human Resources Assistant provides general office support to the Human Resources department.
Provides general office support by entering, formatting, updating and printing information; organization and maintenance of personnel and HR files as per procedures/law.
Performs the following functions: employee recruitment (posting jobs and making recruitment files and flyers etc.), new hire orientation assistance; assists with IT and meeting place for HR staff meetings; responsible for completion of new hire file/ documentation. Keeps supply of new hire and separation packets at optimum quantity.
Responsible for keeping personnel files in order and accurate.
Responsible for training record keeping.
Assist, research and compile information for reports as needed.
Assists with employee benefit Open Enrollment materials/meetings.
Ability to learn HR systems and assists as back up for: HR payroll duties, Y Retirement, Workers Compensation, Un-Employment and other systems as needed.
May provide back up to finance in some duty areas.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 18 years of age.
College degree in Human Resources or related field and/or 2 years progressively responsible experience in HR.
Payroll, accounting and or budgeting experience desired.
Education and experience will be taken into consideration.
Bi-lingual Spanish desired.
Previous experience in customer service preferred.
Excellent computer skills; Experience with standard business software/equipment (PC, fax, copier etc.).
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Y Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and a proactive attitude.
Must be able to drive own vehicle, valid insurance/Driver's License and clear driving record
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with YMCA staff, youth, parents, school staff, community partners and volunteers.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Live scan clearance.
In first 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid certificate, Child Abuse prevention training.
Blood borne pathogens training as required.
Valid drivers license and car insurance.
(Certifications need to remain current during employment.)
