Under general supervision of the Assistant Consumer Loan Manager, a Consumer Loan Underwriter is responsible for underwriting and evaluating secured, unsecured and Visa loans in the Consumer Loan Department.
Some of the Responsibilities are;
•Underwrites secured, unsecured and Visa loan applications
•Evaluates all loans in order to maximize organizational profit and minimize risk or loss
•Understands LoansPQ (CoastHills chosen loan origination software) and their application process
•Explores and offers counter options for all potential loans
•Explains reason for denial and explores options to members
•Performs within consumer loan lending limits approved by Board of Directors
•Reviews and understands credit reports and explains to member's information as reported
•Responds to members' inquiries and requests; assists in completing forms and documents
•Resolves members and/or dealer problems and/or complaints
•Reviews member requests to skip or modify payments
•Understands and runs Kelly Blue Books, AutoChecks, CVR's and Check Systems reports
•Assists members in understanding how their payments are posted to their accounts
•Calculates payoff on vehicle loans for dealerships while ensuring member loan retention
•Responds to member problems and requests, when necessary; assist with completion of forms and documents.
Some of the Requirements are;
•Knowledge and understanding of consumer lending procedures, practices and policies and credit fundamentals as would normally be acquired from 3 or more years of increasingly responsible related experience with 2 years of consumer lending processing experience
•Knowledge of Symitar, Base 2000, Akcelerant and other computer systems/software programs to effectively perform job
•Works cooperatively with members, dealers and fellow employees
•Must be registered and in good standing with NMLS and renew registration each year
•Ability to analyze situations and implement solutions independently
•Ability to quickly identify and resolve problems
•Ability to be bonded
