Hi Folkes and Welcome,

As you know, the first step to having a great learning experience is finding a great teacher. These are the people in our lives that we will always remember because they could bring their subject matter to life in a way that would make it easy to understand and a joy to learn.

I am a pianist today because my first teacher was one of those people. He knew how to work with
me, coach me, set my technique properly and keep me interested in the music. He cared about his
craft and his art. And because he cared, I cared. And I still do!

I studied Concert Piano at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT. During my years at there I
became interested in Jazz and other forms of improvised music which complimented my classical
studies. After all, Bach, Mozart and Beethoven were all great improvisers so to me, adding jazz to
my set of skills made perfect sense.

In my professional career I have performed as a leader and a sideman in jazz settings ranging from solo piano to big band in and around New York City as well as Southern and now Central California. In 2012, I served as the Music Director for The Great American Melodrama in Oceano, Ca. Since then, I've served as Music Director and pianist in numerous SLO County Broadway productions. From 2016 to 2019, I served as an Emeritus Professor for Cuesta College's Community Programs division teaching Music Appreciation to Senior Communities around the county.

My students range in age from 8 through adult and parents are always
welcome to sit in on any all lessons. Remember, learning a musical instrument is primarily a skill set that anyone can learn regardless of age. Becoming fluent in music is just a matter of time and persistence. And of course, a lot of fun along the way.

Lessons include a strong foundation in classical studies and technique as well as a study of music theory and the performance of jazz, rock and blues, because it's fun to be able to play with your friends.

Lessons are given in my home studio in SLO on either a grand piano or studio piano. I can also teach online and can offer very effective classes using 3 cameras so the student can get an overhead view as well as a side views and a front view.

So if you're looking for a dedicated teacher who can make learning the piano one of the best things
you've ever done, give me a call.

I can promise you a very fulfilling musical experience.
Just ask my students! Better yet, come see for yourself.
