An industrial painter applies high-performance protective coatings to heavy machinery, bridges, and manufacturing facilities. Their core responsibilities include surface preparation (sandblasting/cleaning), mixing paints to exact specifications, operating spray equipment, and adhering to strict safety protocols.Key ResponsibilitiesSurface Preparation: Clean, sand, grit-blast, or chemically strip surfaces to remove rust, old paint, and debris for optimal coating adhesion.Coating Application: Apply industrial-grade epoxies, urethanes, and enamels utilizing airless sprayers, brushes, and rollers while preventing overspray.Quality Control: Use viscosity cups and thickness gauges to ensure the coating meets structural and environmental protection specifications.Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain spray guns, hoses, and paint pots to ensure proper working order.Safety Compliance: Equipment (PPE) like respirators and hazmat suits.Qualifications & RequirementsExperience & Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Prior experience in industrial coating, auto body work, or commercial sandblasting is highly preferred.Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long hours, climb ladders/scaffolding, work in confined or elevated spaces, and lift heavy equipment.Technical Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude for calculating surface areas and mixing ratios. Familiarity with reading blueprints or technical work orders.
work schedule is full time M-Thursday 6 to 5:00 4 - 10's off fri, sat and sun.
