The San Luis Obispo County YMCA has an opening for a Child Watch Representative.
Part time, 10-15 hours per week
Under the direction of the Membership Director, the Child Watch Representative is responsible for various Child activities, including but not limited to: fine arts, recreation, and fitness. This position will help develop a program that meets the community needs and the Y's cause.
Provide support of various Child Watch activities that focus on healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.
Be creative, flexible, and proactive in the development of the Child Watch activities.
Continually take an active role in providing safe conditions at all times.
Remain with the participants while they are signed into the program.
Coordinate use of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
Keep accurate daily records in accordance with policy & procedure.
With assistance of the Director and/or the YMCA COO, report and record any suspected abuse.
Must be on time for work and dependable.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School or GED diploma is required for the position.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Bi-lingual desired (Spanish preferable)
Previous experience with child care, youth development or related experience is required. Courses in childhood education or related field will be taken into consideration.
Previous experience in customer service preferred.
Good personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
Good organizational skills, initiative, and a proactive attitude.
Good verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with YMCA staff, youth, parents, and volunteers.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Live scan clearance.
• Within the first 30 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/AED certificate, Child Abuse Prevention training.
• Blood borne pathogens training as required.
(Certifications need to remain current during employment.)
