Heal The Kids Charity is looking for volunteers to help out with fundraisers, office work, donations, and much more.
Heal The Kids is a charitable organization based in central California. Catalyst for Youth, a 501(C)(3) public charity and educational corporation is our fiscal sponsor. A fiscal sponsor is someone who allows another non-profit to work under their 501(c)(3).
Heal the Kids is a non-profit charity located on the Central Coast of California in northern Santa Barbara County. Heal the Kids was started when the founders saw a great need to provide low income children with the tools, supplies, opportunity and motivation to succeed in their own lives. Heal the Kids hopes to provide low income children with school supplies, tutoring services, constructive after school activities, and much more. Each service will give children the opportunity to grow and learn to better their own lives. All of the services would be provided free of charged by Heal the Kids from donations from the community.
Heal the Kids wishes to target children from ages 5 until 21 years old of age. Essentially, the founders believe that children from low income families, in northern Santa Barbara County, have found themselves in an endless cycle of poverty. Many of these families are close and only have each other to rely on, therefore it is expected that as children reach an age when they can earn an income, then the children should break away from education and help with the financial situation. Other families might view education as vital for the child’s success, but the family is unable to provide the tool a child needs to gain a great education. Then at another extreme, some children might have the motivation to be successful in their education but maybe lack the support in their families. The founders ultimately believe that if children are not given the tools they need to succeed, the children will be forced to remain in the economical caste in which they and their family find themselves.
Heal the Kids will provide these much needed programs/tools with funding from donations from the surrounding community, written grants, and our own personal fundraisers. All programs will be provided for the benefit of the children. Children and adolescences should be given the attention and care that they so desperately need in able to support their academic, social, emotional and metal growth. Teachers expect academic excellence, but we must also keep in mind that a young mind can only reach excellence if all their basic needs are met first. The need for belonging is extremely important for all children. Heal the Kids will help children realize their position in the world and give them the confidence to chase their dreams. With continued attention, children and adolescences will progress in their educational careers and will surely learn to express each others’ multiple identities in ways that meaningful. Heal the Kids can have more power than we might realize. Heal the Kids has the potential to bring out the excellence in those who less see it within themselves. This is our hope for the children we will serve. We hope that the strategies we are able to provide our children can help bring out the best in every child to make them succeed not just in school but in life!
