Located in the middle of the Klamath National Forest, Happy Camp is Northern California’s rafting capital. During the summer, this small hamlet’s population nearly doubles as many rafting companies begin (or end) their trips on the family friendly mid Klamath River.
What makes the mid Klamath River Family Friendly? The most important factor is the warm waters. The rivers coming out of the Sierras have water temperatures in the 40’s having melted from snow as early as the day before. In the Klamath by contrast, by the time water reaches Happy Camp, it has already traveled approximately 150 miles from Eastern Oregon and has warmed up into the 70’s – that’s swimming pool temperatures.
