My husband, 2 year old daughter and I are currently looking for a 2 bedroom apartment or house (or large 1 bedroom), in Atascadero. My husband has a wonderful job, he loves, in which he works 10-12 hour days, 5-6 days a week. My daughter goes to school full time. We currently are renting a room in a lovely atascadero house. However, two families in one house gets a bit crowded at times.

The catch is that we do not have good credit. We are on the road to repairing it. In 2007, my husband and I were both working full time jobs, and I was going to get a promotion. However, at that time my husbands work was slowing down and I got pregnant. Due to unforeseen pregnancy complications, I had to give up my job and we could no longer afford the place we were living. We tried to find a less expensive place, but could not. We were evicted. We are planning on having everything paid off at the begining of the year.

With this issue, we have had problems renting. Although I understand from a landlords point the problem with this, we still need housing. We can provide excellent references from places we've rented from since and are willing to provide proof of income. If there is any possibility of renting from a property, PLEASE let us know. We would like to find a place within the Atascadero area (as this is where my husband works and my daughter has school). We can comfortably afford around $850 a month.

My boyfriend, Andy, and I (together for 6 years) are looking to rent a house. We are currently renting for $1500 a month and would like to move somplace smaller to save some money. Atascadero is prefered, but we'd look at most anything in the North County (Accept Shandon, San Miguel, & Naci Lake). We are both quiet, non-partiers who don't complain.. All of our previous landlords have loved us. Andy works at the Atascadero State Hospital, so his job is very secure and his pay would cover all bills.. I work as a secretary for a fence contractor. My job is the most secure in the company, so if something happened to the business I'd be the last one to go.

What we need:

A (1) car garage or large shed or workshop (Andy does woodworking)
A minimum of AC window units and wall heaters (central or forced air and heat prefered)

Before those I rented a room from Andy's mother, and he of course lived there since childhood.

We've been having trouble finding a new place. The main reason is because we need to give our current landlord 30 days notice. So, we need to KNOW that we're moving into a place by the first of the previous month. If we can't find something this weekend (for Dec. 1st) we will need to wait until Jan 1st to move.

The only other issue we have is the security deposit. Because we pay so much in rent right now it takes us a while to save up money. We will be getting $1,000 back from our current landlord when we move...but, that will take a week or two to get. We have previously had our landlord write us a note stating how much we are getting back and when we would get it. We have also signed an agreement to split the deposit up between a couple of extra payments each month (for a $2,100 deposit it was $700 extra a month for three months on the 15). Depending on the amount I could probably get about half of a deposit right away (max of $500) and the other half when we get our deposit back. I know that this will be an issue for most landlords...especially in the current economy.
